Beschluss des Volkes, nach Vorlage der Prytanen: Da unserVolk in jeglicher Hinsicht die ihm von den Vorfahren überkommeneFrömmigkeit gegenüber der Gottheit unter Beweis stellt und allenEifer und Ehrgeiz verwendet für die Vermehrungder Ehren der Artemis Hiakynthotrophos,und (jetzt) Opfer, Fürbitten und Festzügeveranstaltet hat wegen der durch (die Göttin) geschehenenEpiphanie und ihr deswegen zusätzlich den Namen „GöttinEpiphanes“ gab; und (künftig) auch Opfer für die Göttin zu veranstaltensowie jedes fünfte Jahr musische und sportliche Spiele, es für eine gute Sache hielt,dass auch seine Freunde und Verbündeten an dem Opfer undden Spielen teilnehmen, indem es Gesandtschaften zu ihnenentsendet; so möge, damit nun das Volk auch diesen Vorsatzin Bezug auf die Göttin sichtbar unter Beweis stellt und dieEhren der Artemis vermehrt werden, zu Glück und Heil!, das Volkbeschließen: dass man drei Gesandte wähle; die Gewählten füreine jede Stadt sollen vor den Rat und die Volksversammlungtreten und deutlich machen das Wohlwollen, das zwischen denStädten untereinander herrscht, und dabei mit allem Eifer und Ehrgeizdarüber Reden vortragen, - - -Lücke- - - Beschluss von Rat und Volk, nach Vorlage der Vorsteher:Da das Volk der Knidier erneut an seine Freundschaft und Verwandtschafterinnert und vortreffliche Männer zu uns als Gesandtegeschickt hat und einen Beschluss, in dem die Knidier deutlich machten: dass ihr Volkin jeglicher Hinsicht - - - die ihm von den Vorfahren überkommeneFrömmigkeit gegenüber dem Göttlichen unter Beweis stellt und allen Eiferund Ehrgeiz verwendet für die Vermehrung der Ehren derArtemis Hiakynthotrophos; und (jetzt) Opfer, Fürbitten undFestzüge veranstaltet hat wegen der durch (die Göttin) geschehenenEpiphanie und ihr deswegen zusätzlich den Namen „Göttin Epiphanes“ gab; und nach dem weiterenBeschluss, ihr jedes fünfte Jahr auch Opfer zu veranstalten sowiemusische und sportliche Spiele, die Absicht hat, dass auch seineFreunde und Verbündeten an den soeben genannten (Spielen) teilnehmen; und daher esfür eine gute Sache hielt, Gesandtschaften zu ihnen zu entsenden, und sie (die Knidier)nun das Volk bitten, das Opfer und die Spiele, die von ihnenfür Artemis Hiakynthotrophos, die „Göttin Epiphanes“, veranstaltet werden,als den Pythien gleichrangig anzuerkennen; und da demgemäß auch die Gesandten Dexiphanes,S.d. Theugeiton, Philinos S.d. Aristarchos und Adoptivsohn des Theudippos,Nikostratos S.d. Nikostratos, vor den Rat und die Volksversammlunggetreten sind und gesprochen haben über das Wohlwollen, das zwischen denStädten untereinander herrscht, und über die anderen in dem Beschluss enthaltenenPunkte und dabei mit allem Eifer und Ehrgeiz ihre Redenvortrugen; - damit nun auch das Volk sichtbar macht, dass es in jeglicherHinsicht die Frömmigkeit gegenüber den Göttern am höchsten schätzt, indem esgemäß der vorhandenen Freundschaft und Verwandtschaft zu den Knidiernund gemäß der anderen Privilegien, die es erhalten hat, die Opfer und die Spielegern anerkennt und die von ihnen beschlossenen Ehren vermehrt,zu Glück und Heil!, wolle man beschließen: dass man die Knidier belobige dafür,dass sie ihre Frömmigkeit gegenüber der Gottheit bewahrt und die Ehrenfür Artemis vermehrten, indem sie die Verbündeten und Freundezu den religiösen Veranstaltungen laden; dass man das Opfer und dieSpiele als den Pythien gleichrangig anerkenne gemäß ihrer Bitte; dass man Festgesandte undOpfer schicke seitens der Stadt, wann auch immer sie die Spiele veranstalten.Für ihre Wahl und Entsendung und für die Opferung dermitgeschickten Tiere sollen Sorge tragen die Vorsteher. - - -- - -
